Wet bunning!

So I have apparently been wet bunning and didn't realize that me slapping my hair in a bun the way I do had a special natural hair term. Wet bunning is basically putting your hair in a bun while damp. Here are the steps to properly and safely wet bun:

1. Start with freshly co-washed/washed hair
2. Condition as normal and rinse
3. Apply leave in conditioner
4. If needed, apply gel to the base of the bun to smooth hair
5. Create a ponytail
6. Create the bun
7. Let air dry

This method eliminates the need to straighten the hair and use unsafe methods such as heat. In my opinion the messier the bun looks the more chic it looks.

Now to much of a good thing is bad! So it is very important that you find ways to protect your hair line because bunning can cause that area to suffer. Here is how you can safely bun:

1. Don't pull your hair into a tight ponytail. You should be able to comfortably blink your eyes..lol!
2. Take the bun down and let the hair rest often. I usually don't go past 4 days with the same bun..I let it down and redo it!
3. Protect your hair at night. Wrapping with a scarf and even using a satin bonnet, this also will protect your style.

With all of this being said, go on and enjoy a bun!!

What works for you at night??

It's about to be that time of year when I get back into wearing wash/go's...the problem now is I have quite a bit of length. With length, comes responsibility! So for some time I've been experimenting as to how can I maintain my hair at night and have 2nd...maybe 3rd day hair. I've found my solution. We've all heard of the "pineapple method" from other naturals. This method involves pulling your hair into a high (almost at your hairline) loose ponytail. Well I tried it and it gave me nightmare hair in the AM. My sides were all straightened out and my hair just had a weird shape. After a lazy night I decided to just throw my hair back in a loose ponytail and EUREKA..I found my nighttime, wash/go, 2nd day hair miracle. So sometimes simpler is best. I also gave up my silk bonnet and opted for a silk pillowcase. The pillowcase won't ruin the shape of my hair and it's just more attractive for those "intimate", spontaneous moments with the hubs..lol!! So what works for you at night? And does your style (braidout, twistout, or wash/go) make the decision of which nighttime method will be best to use?

Review: Hype Hair Bun Maker

When I first looked at this product a few months ago...I said "yea right...what is that going to do for ME?" But to my surprise this lil device WORKS!! It appears it works for curlies and permed ladies to create chic, neat looking buns. It is so easy to used.

1. Pull hair into a ponytail and secure with a non-metal holder.
2. Slide ponytail through the hole in the bun maker
3. Fold hair over the holder to camouflage the material! And you have the perfect bun.

I also didn't feel like I had to pull my hair tight to achieve my desired look and my hair feel weightless! So Supernaturals...make this super purchase at your local beauty supply or drug store and you'll have a chic way to rock style and protect your hair at the same time! Happy Shopping! Stay Curly!

Ladies we have a "natural" Charlie's Angel!

Introducing Annie Ilonzeh! Introducing is a strong word, especially since Annie has been acting for quite sometime. I am already a fan of the Charlies Angel franchise, but now ABC is giving us an African American angel....and she is natural! The fascinating thing is that she isn't dripping in hair..I looks like an average natural sistahs hair. I'm getty about this because now you, me, and other natural women have one more natural hair diva on TV. Annie is best known for her role as Maya Ward on General Hospital!

It's a bird, it's a plane....no it's a SUPERNATURAL..I'm BACK!

After an extended hiatus, I would like to announce that Supernaturals is BACK! The past few months I haven't been very motivated to blog, but recently I've been thinking, the concept of the blog is to great to throw away! I'm so excited to be back, and there are a lot of changes you will be seeing over the next few weeks.

The blog will move, hopefully May 1st, if all goes well. I'm 95% sure I will be moving the blog from blogger.com to wordpress.org. For the official relaunch there will be some contest and giveaways!!!! The NEW Supernaturals blog will have your same content but in addition to what you already see there will be an opportunity for YOU to be a featured, transitioning natural to a full blown natural! One of the final changes you will see are more product reviews. With me being a new naturallycurly.com blogger I will be blogging and vlogging my opinions. There will be distinction as to what posts pertain to Naturallycurly.com!

Again, thank you so much for hanging in there with me, and not leaving the blog. I've also noticed that more people have subscribed since I have been out! More to come soon...STAY CURLY!
